POPIA & PAIA

This page explains our commitment under two South African laws: the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), which governs how we handle personal information, and the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (PAIA), which gives you the right to request access to records we hold.

Part A — POPIA (Protection of Personal Information)

Obsidian Studio Designs is committed to processing personal information lawfully, transparently, and only for legitimate purposes. In practice this means we:

• Collect only the information we genuinely need (such as your name, email, phone number, and enquiry message);
• Use it only for the purpose you gave it to us — mainly to respond to you and deliver our services;
• Keep it secure and do not sell it;
• Keep it only as long as necessary, then delete it;
• Respect your rights to access, correct, or delete your information.

Part B — PAIA (Access to Information)

PAIA gives everyone the right to request access to records held by public and private bodies, subject to certain limits set out in the Act. If you would like to request access to a record we hold, here is how it works.

How to make a request

1. Send a written request to our Information Officer at obsidianstudiodesigns@gmail.com.
2. Include enough detail for us to identify the record, identify you, and reach you with our response.
3. State which right you are trying to exercise, if applicable.
4. We will respond within the period allowed under PAIA (generally 30 days), and let you know of any prescribed fee before proceeding.

We may decline a request only on the grounds permitted by PAIA — for example, to protect another person's privacy or confidential commercial information.
